On November 9th the West Herts Liberal Democrats held their Annual General Meeting in Rickmansworth.
Earlier in the year, the Tring and Berkhamsted Branches of the West Herts Liberal Democrats successfully merged in order to streamline admin and efficiency - just as a wave of new members joined.

There were only two changes this week. The first was in Eltham North in Greenwich LB where the Conservatives gained the seat from Labour. There was a moderate increase in vote share for Lib Dems, but Labour were down and UKIP and the Greens crashed.

"When I discovered that my GP surgery had run out of Flu Vaccine - help was near at hand," said Tring resident Nick Hollinghurst. "It wasn't till I asked my wife - who owned and managed Rosemarie Finch Chemist in Dunstable for over 25 years - that I found out that these days you can get a variety of treatments at your local community pharmacy."
The wheels of the bus go round and round - but not for much longer for some people without cars or those who cannot drive.
Jo Lucey is new to politics - but not new to the area. She has lived in Rickmansworth for most of her life and is making a name for herself in the fields of ethnomusicology, sound engineering and as a radio host. She is an accomplished musician, composes her own works and is skilled as a luthier i.e. someone who makes or repairs stringed instruments, e.g. guitars, violins or (originally) lutes. Jo's political motivation arises from her social experiences. She passionately believes that everyone should have the opportunities to develop themselves, their skills and their lives to the full. Where accident, illness or other disadvantages reduce people's life chances society should find practical ways to give them a helping hand. Jo was recently selected as the Liberal Democrat Candidate for the Rickmansworth East & Oxhey Park Division in the Hertfordshire County Council elections in May 2017. It seems that the East-West Rail rebuild is to go via the Bedford-Sandy-Cambridge corridor.
To jump up to second place in Witney the way we did was certainly a sign of a change in sentiment towards Liberal Democrats - though of course in Liz Leffman we had a well known and well liked candidate who is a local councillor and a credit to her community.
